Information
The Stream Garden retreat center is nestled in a densely forested natural valley through which flows a vibrant, continually flowing stream, hence the name of the center. It is simply delightful to just sit on the bank of the stream, listening to the relentless rush of the waters. And at times, if one is fortunate, there is even a little respite from the relentless rush of the mind. Overhead, the dappled sunlight playfully peeks through the green canopy of the towering tropical trees that line the banks. To cool off on hot afternoons you can take advantage of the jacuzzi-like effect of the swift current or take a dip in the naturally formed swimming holes scattered about. The center consists of a main building where a library of Krishnamurti's books, audio and video tapes is maintained, a quiet room next to it, four cottages built in Thai style and two dormitories. The design and construction, which strive to be as natural and environmentally sensitive as possible, have the buildings perched on a hillside with a spectacular view of the surroundng hills and forest. Each cottage is set some distance apart from the others and has its own sense of tranquility and openess. The cottages can accomodate two or three people and have electricity and built-in toilets. The kitchen provides hearty Thai vegetarian cuisine which is served with typical Thai hospitality.
Here is a map for directions to the center from Hadyai. Visitors who wish an extended stay are welcome and special arrangements can be worked out. However, where possible, a preliminary visit is advised to make sure of mutual compatibility.
