Event - Can Fear Ever End?

Can fear ever end..?

A Retreat in the light of J. Krishnamurti's Teachings

28 May - 3 June, 2018

“There are many fears, - fear of death, fear of loneliness, fear of losing a job, fear of not being loved, dozens of fears, - but what is the root of fear? Have you ever gone into it? Unless your mind is free of fear, there is no love and there will always be suffering."

J. Krishnamurti 1st Public Talk, Bombay, India,1975

Fear is one of the most dominant factors in our life… human beings have been living with this fear for thousands of years… all the wars, violence, aggressiveness are the result of this pre-dominating feeling of fear. Krishnamurti tells us that we are living under the shadow of fear… and that most of our activities, education, jobs and relationships are governed and corrupted by psychological fear.

But am I actually aware of this fear? Throughout life, fear remains hidden under my constant drive for security… I am forever seeking security in various things: in knowledge, in authorities, in gods, in money and in relationships. But do I ever get the complete security I want..? What is security? What is fear and what is the origin or source of all fears? Can we look at fear? Can we face it and remain there? As long as there is fear can love, beauty and truth exist in our relationships..? Is there a total ending of fear..?

Exploring fear is the central theme of this week-long retreat at Riversong. It is clear that no intellectual or verbal understanding of fear shall ever solve this great issue. Rather we need sensitivity, honesty and affection to embark on this extraordinary journey. We are going to inquire, as friends and co-travellers, the deeper questions of our day to day life in a relaxed, meditative and affectionate atmosphere. The daily schedule will include short introductory talks, existential dialogues, silent observation and listening, long walks in nature and meditation. The primary intention is that our entire day becomes a meditative process by taking a complete break from our daily mechanical way of living and allowing our minds and hearts to deeply rest, rejuvenate, reflect, observe, and listen...

The venue of this gathering is a small beautiful village in the Alps of Switzerland, about two hours from Geneva International airport. About the facilitator: Mukesh Gupta comes from Varanasi, India where he is the coordinator of a Krishnamurti Study and Retreat Center. He has been engaging with the teachings of J. Krishnamurti, Buddha and other teachers for more than two decades and conducting residential retreats, study programs and dialogues in India, Europe and Israël.
