It's time for you to fly away, little
before the looming darkness of the
and completely takes over the day. Before the street cats sneak in and
it's time to take wing, and fly away

(Saw a strange looking little bird, struggling to take wing trying to nurse it's broken wing by the side of a block of bricks struggling with every ounce of it's energy to take wing, as minutes passed to ardous hours and hours into a painfull long day...moving one to write thus. :-) And by the time I finished and looked out towards to where it had been, it had gone taking wing leaving no trace! :-) |

yesterday nancy and i were sitting in friends' backyard talking ... when all of a sudden a hawk flew heavily into the yard next door and perched on a fence post. (this was in the suburbs, rows and rows of houses right next to each other, not in the countryside.) that hawk was HUGE! he (she?) sat there for a while, flew away, came back, drank water from a pool in the lawn, flew away to a nearby high branch and sat there for a long time. i've never been that close to a hawk, not even in the wilderness. it was spectacular! |

don't let the wounds of the past tie you down from flying free, don't let the sorrows of yesterday keep you from soaring high, don't let the fears of tomorrow hold you from diving deep now, is your time to fly away, little bird, and on your own, to fly away and to never look back, to never settle down.... |

Last week I was at a University building and saw a little bird in its interior garden. I thought it was hurt because it is a place where there are no birds, so, I approached. It didn?t move. Then I said, quietly: ?Why are you here. Are you hurt?? And it didn?t move. His eyes were very alert. So, I held my hand closer to it, and suddenly, it flew. I thought: ?I scared him?. And I left. |

easy to love birds. harder to love humans. why? |

the birds have no psychological memories or hurts nor do they pretend to be something else than what they are. Human beings are unapproachable some where beyond the many layers of masks of a diverse persona and solid belief systems. |

Mmmm? yes? it seems to be easy to approach a little bird and interact with it with compassion, happiness, freshness, so, let?s see?. Is it because we are not expecting anything from them?
? mmmhhh.. Interesting, we can think about it?about our own idea of love.

here's a translation i just worked up of an excerpt from The Duino Elegies by Rainer Maria Rilke, one of my favorite poems. i thought it fit this thread very nicely: With all eyes the animal gazes into the original: Mit allen Augen sieht die Kreatur |

Hi Samatha, I have problems with understanding poems. Very few, like the one above by rachMichael, do I understand. Still my love for poems haven't vanished. Occasionally I write. I feel shy to show them to others fearing criticism. Here is one I wrote some months back. I remember writing it with some feeling, but I can't capture it now: Cosmic dance happens You soar up to the heavens Freedom from the known is Attention in the Unknown: Krishnamurti J |

Namaste Samata. Everything is fine with me now. At present I'm reading Nikos Kazantzakis' Zorba the Greek and C S Lewis's Horse and the Boy. Zorba evokes passion in me and Lewis is making me into a child. The captive Horse talks to the captive Boy and both are ditching their masters and are on their jouney to a Happy Land. To a mind which has overworked its intellect, regaining innocence is a blessing. I want to be a child! Have a great day, Sam. Freedom from the known is Attention in the Unknown: Krishnamurti J |

To a mind which has overworked its intellect, regaining innocence is a blessing. I want to be a child! Have a great day, Sam. That sounds interesting, Ramesh G. It's a most beautiful thing to be able see through the eyes of a child, to feel with him his world, to share his/her joys and tears. These days I have been myself interacting with some of the most wonderful little boys(my son and his incredible friends) who just amaze me beyond words, their unique personalities, their love and passion for play, for communication, for life itself. Such delightful beings bringing in such love and joy to this world. And Ramesh G one is 'gone' in this passion with them, in this love affair with life... Yes, no exaggeration. This thing fills me to my very bones, threatening to explode my heart. lol. Let me share with you something Ramesh G. I said to 'my' six year old son looking into his eyes, with this sweet love filling up my every cell, unable to contain it, "Oh, love, mommy is madly, deeply in love. Yes, yes, yeah!" to which he responds as spontaneously, "mam, you're madly in love, but , am super super super madly in love!" holding my face in his little strong hands, and my gaze with his sparkling, brilliant eyes! wow, blowing my mind and heart to a zillion pieces or so!:-) Yes, what more could a mother of this world ask for? And yes, infact, he is super madly in love. Every one feels it and that's contagious and catches on like wild fire. People in love are the most dangerous. Watch out! (laughing) Btw Ramesh G my son also has a most awesome, caring and responsible dad, with whom he has left this morning on a vacation over to the US of A for 5 days. Since am on vacation myself, having taken off this summer, am now wondering what I should be doing with myself for the next five days. lol. I love it! I guess am going to walk around, trek, and lose myself where ever I want. Yeah! lol. Well, that's about my day/life for now! Thanks for sharing your day. Puts a BIG smile on my face.:-) This post was last updated by S R (account deleted) Mon, 20 Jul 2009. |

That's just terrific, David, and thanks for stopping by. I love that, esp, the part "man did not understand" which makes me laugh. Yes, come let's laugh together, weep together, and unburden each other. Man/woman builds walls, cages around himself/herself thinking he/she is safe behind 'em, not realizing that one day not far away from now they're going to crumble smothering the very living flame of life out of him/her. Samatha, You are too full of energy. To balance that dynamism, take a few minutes' break, and allow yourself the joy of being a Buddha.
