Member Statement

I have been a pacifist at least since watching captured Nazi films of WW2 on my parent's first tv in the early 1950's; my father never said a word of his WW1 experiences fighting the Turks in the hills above Baghdad. He did show me his scar where he was shot through his leg.

My wife, Nancy Genevieve, of 33 years and I have never had a tv; we do have a monitor for movies and documentaries of our choosing.

I believe that the world from our human perspective would surely be happier and more civil when all tvs are for all time turned off and we learn to live in a fuller self awareness giving up judgment of others with its attending malignant gossip. Instead, in my opinion the goal is to live with a more sanguine, live and let live, be civil first and last approach. Let 's eat; let's dance; let's care; let's make this world work.

Interview Answers

Can dialogue - in the sense of sincere inquiry - be organized or can it only come about spontaneously, unprompted?

I see dialogue as I understand it in K's world as an opportunity of finding other people who one may like to continue to explore a common human quest for self and other's understanding, appreciation, caring. A new friend perhaps is found on this pathless land. Surely dialogue as it is known here can happen both instantly by a chance meeting or organized at a particular time and place.
