Member Statement

It is new to me making friends that are into JK. I have been reading him more or less for 15 years, alone until I went online a few years back. And this site looks really great, I hope it works.
I am 37, not married, and happy enough, though I get anxiety and worry sometimes (ok, a lot). I am ultimately interested in following K to the end, as he once put it in reference to the Buddha. But I do have some free time too;), and I enjoy biking, nature, shopping, eating....and I'm a chai addict.
I am the kind of person who outwardly lets his apartment become a hazardous mess, then cleans it from top to bottom, only to begin again. I should and will try to, keep things orderly on a daily basis...
As far as discussing goes, I'm not so into the 'enlightenment' and ideals stuff. I do prefer to learn about and approach from,"what is". And move from there.
I'm also a great admirerer of India, all her philosophy and art and customs (and chai!), and plan to visit some day in the foggy future.

Interview Answers

Do you think it is possible to make Krishnamurti more "practicable" than what he himself seems to have allowed for?

No, definitely not. And I don't believe there should be any 'dumbing down' interpreters of his very lucid teachings. Practical seems to imply methods, paths, and then we'll wrangle over these, "how to meditate", etc.
It's all there in his teachings and works. Granted this takes a bit of interpretation and that's where the forums come in..And, certainly teaching- that would involve some prodding, some help, of various kinds...

Are there any aspects of Krishnamurti's teaching that you find implausible or difficult to accept?

No, not really.

Do you think it advisable to introduce Krishnamurti to people you know? Have you ever done it and if yes, what are your experiences?

(ha) I've tried, a lot when I first got into him..but people astonishingly didn't care. I think it's because it involves the ending of desire, in a way, and of oneself! I really would like to introduce K to friends and family, but I realise that if they 'got it', it would really be life-changing. And it needs, I think, a certain feeeling of 'nothing to lose'. That may be put wrong, but if you're going to go into it wanting to still hold onto this or that, your going to have some issues down the road. If you have nothing to lose, really, then you have the necessary freedom to look. I don't mean being reckless.

How important do you consider group dialogue to be in understanding the more subtle points of Krishnamurti's message?

Well, people do bring in different subtle points, and the variety of views is important, as long as a fight doesn't break out!

Do you think Krishnamurti was exceptional, or is the transformation he spoke of universally accessible?

Oh, both, definitely. I think he was very exceptional, but for it to be just for 1 or 2 people, is not really what I think he talked for. Although, those 1 or 2 could make quite a difference. But to limit it to a few, that would be silly and really pointless. But it's also not, I don't believe, for the casual. It's something body, mind, and heart, and for the three to come together is rigorous.

If you had to sum up what Krishnamurti is all about in just a few words of your own, what would they be?

Learn about yourself, and go beyond (without efffort).

How do you personally go about exploring the Krishnamurti's teachings (through personal study, dialogues, dvds)?

I used t o read all the books, but now video- youtube, the other ksite- I love the videos because they show all the nuances books can't convey, his gestures, smiles, passion...oh- and trying to get into dialogues, find my voice in that, trying to see the forum's value for me. It's easy to just talk, write, but to have it come from a somewhat deeper, quiet source- then it has meaning...
